HANOVER, NH - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team completed the Volkl Shootout at Dartmouth College over the weekend as the Bulls faced local rival St. Bonaventure, Division III powerhouse Williams College and the host Big Green with players competing in eight singles divisions and four doubles divisions.

UB freshman Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) led the way for the Bulls with a 3-1 singles mark. Stane went 2-1 in the E Division of the tournament and also added a win in the D Division matches. In the E Division, he knocked off St. Bonaventure's Jonathan Luce, 6-3, 6-2 and Dartmouth's Rashaad Elder-Bush, 6-2, 6-4 and fell to Williams' Bryan Monier, 6-3, 7-5. Stane moved up to the D Division to down Dartmouth's Ediz Tiyasan, 6-0, 6-2.

Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) also posted a 3-1 record, playing in the C Division. He downed Andrew Hart of St. Bonaventure, 6-2, 6-0 and a pair of Dartmouth opponents, David Steinberg, 6-4, 7-5, and Travis Maiers, 7-6(4), 6-1.

Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) went 2-2 in his singles matches. Rockman, playing the highest competition, in the A Division scored wins over St. Bonaventure's Alejandro Nery, 6-4, 6-2 and Dartmouth's Mark Brodie, 6-0, 6-1. Rockman also defeated Nery in three sets at the St. Bonaventure Fall Classic on September 11.

In doubles play, Singh Panthlia teamed with Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) to take three victories, including two in the A Division while Stane and Mike Zappone (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) went 2-1 overall, including a pair of wins in the D Division.

The Bulls take a break from tournament play on October 1 at 11:00 am when they host St. Francis (PA) in the first dual match of the season.
