Men's tennis weekly releaseClick here for a PDF version of the release Bulls Find Success at St. Bonaventure Invite The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team picked up championships in the top two flights to open the fall tournament season at the St. Bonaventure Fall Classic, which concluded Sunday afternoon. Buffalo won 19 of the 26 matches in singles and doubles play over the weekend competition against St. Francis (PA), Youngstown State and the host Bonnies. Starakiewicz, Mazzetto Claim Singles Titles
Starakiewicz, who joined the Bulls this summer after playing last season at Tulsa, scored three wins including a 6-3, 6-3 triumph in his first match against Tariq Ismail of Youngstown State. Mazzetto, second on the team last season with 17 singles wins, got a strong start to the season with his three victories. Mazzetto finished the weekend with a 7-6, 6-2 win over St. Bonaventure’s Diego Valdenegro. Pair of Doubles Duos Pick Up Two Wins Apiece
Tournament Schedule Continues After sitting out this coming week, the Bulls hit the courts at two venues for tournaments starting on September 18. UB will travel to Princeton, NJ for the Princeton Invitational while the Bulls will also participate in the Niagara Doubles Invitational.
