BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's tennis player Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference men's team, as voted by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives. The league announced the results on Friday afternoon at the conference offices in Cleveland. Rockman was among seven MAC players to earn the honor.

Rockman, a junior psychology major with a 3.54 grade point average, was UB's top-seeded men's player in 2006. Rockman finished the season with a 19-11 singles record and was 9-13 in doubles play. He led the Bulls with his 19 singles wins and became UB’s second-winningest singles player in school history with 65. During the fall, he reached the round of 32 at ITA Regional Tournament and led the Bulls with eight tournament wins. Off the court, Rockman has been honored as a UB Scholar-Athlete and MAC Commissioner’s Award winner. He also served with the UB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Athletes for Athletes as vice president and has been elevated to its president for the 2006-07 school year.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
