Men's Tennis Weekly Release - May 1Bulls Eliminated in MAC Tournament Opener TOLEDO, OHIO - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team was eliminated by Bowling Green 4-0 in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at the University of Toledo Tennis Courts on Thursday April 27. The seventh-seeded Bulls finish the season 8-14 while second-seeded Bowling Green, 16-7, advances to the semifinals to face the winner of Ball State vs. Eastern Michigan. Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) at number two dropped his match to Nicolas Lopez-Acevedo 6-3, 6-2. Bulls number one player Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) lost the first set of his match 7-5 to Vitek Wild when play was halted. Tournament matches are stopped when one team scores four of the seven possible points and is declared the winner.
Individuals Shine for Bulls The Bulls had some strong individual performances during the season. Newcomer
Fery Kasiman arrived in the spring season and posted an 11-6 record while playing number two
singles. Budi Susanto finished the combined fall and spring seasons with a 13-14 mark as UB's top
seed. Also registering double figure wins was
Jason Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville
East) compiling a 12-11 record while playing most of the year at number three. |
