Ball State Wins MAC Men's Tennis ChampionshipBUFFALO, NY - The Ball State Cardinals won their final match against the Bowling Green Falcons at the Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Championship this afternoon, hosted by the University at Buffalo.
The number-two seeded Cardinals defeated the number-one seeded Falcons in a close 4-3 match. Securing the victory was Ball State's Matt Laramore, winning his fifth singles match, 7-5, 6-7 (8-6), 6-4 over Joel Carney.
Announced at the conclusion of the tournament were the Mid-American Conference men's tennis awards. Player of the Year was awarded to Geoff Hiscox of Bowling Green and member of the regular season champion team. The Newcomer of the Year went to Erick Martinez of Northern Illinois. The Jack Vredevelt Sportsmanship Award went to Christian Brattstrom of Western Michigan. Jay Harris of Bowling Green was named Coach of the Year.
