Bulls Downed By Toledo In MAC TourneyDeKALB, IL The University at Buffalo men's tennis team was defeated Thursday afternoon, 4-0, by Toledo in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Championships in DeKalb, IL. With the loss, the Bulls conclude the season at 12-12 overall while Toledo (8-13) moves on to face top-seed Ball State in Friday's semifinals.
Toledo earned the doubles point with a pair of victories. UB's number one team of Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) and Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) were defeated by Khalid Al Nabhani and Tony Tran, 8-3. At number two, UB's Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) and Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany) fell to Dipesh Rao and Freddy Gomez, 8-5. In singles play, Rocchio was defeated by Rao, 6-0, 6-4, at number two. At number three, Liederman fell to Tran, 6-0, 6-2. Prayudha lost to Gomez, at number five, 6-0, 6-1. Three matches were still in progress when play was halted due to Toledo's clinching of the victory. At number one, Kasiman trailed in the second set to Al Nabhani, 6-3, 4-4. At number four, Zieziula was tied with Wojtkowski, 6-6, heading into a tiebreaker. At number six, Ivan Chamdani (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) trailed Begic, 6-2, 4-2.
