Men's Tennis Weekly Release - April 24Bulls Fall in Regular Season Finale The Bulls men's tennis squad completed their regular season last Wednesday with a 4-1 loss at St. Francis (Pa.). The Bulls are now 8-13 overall and 0-6 in Mid-American Conference play. Only five singles matches were played to completion and the doubles matches were canceled. The lone singles victory for the Bulls was by Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) who defeated Isreal Gutierrez 6-2, 6-2 at number two. Since joining the Bulls in the spring semester, Kasiman is 11-5 overall and 3-3 against MAC competition. Two other matches were decided in third game tiebreakers. Number one Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) fell 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 to Matt Gower while at number three Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) lost a hard fought 6-2, 6-7, 7-6 decision to Zach Hughes.
MAC Tournament Awaits Bulls The Bulls will head into this week's Mid-American Conference Tournament in Toledo,
Ohio seeded seventh. UB's first round opponent is yet to be determined as Ball State, Bowling Green
and Western Michigan tied for first place. A coin flip or drawing will have to take place to break the
tie since all three squads were 1-1 against each other in head-to-head competition. The Bulls will
take on the second seed from the group at 9:00 am on Thursday in the single elimination
format. Semifinals and finals are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 1:00 pm. |
