Bulls Go Three-For-Three
The men’s tennis team used three straight victories last week to snap a three-match losing string and secure themselves in fourth place in the Mid-American Conference standings heading into the final week of the regular season. UB downed Niagara, 7-0, in a non-conference matchup on April 11. The Bulls then upset MAC rival Northern Illinois, 4-3, on Friday and scored a 5-2 win over IPFW on Sunday. UB is now 11-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Rockman Rolls Into Second Place
Mike Rockman | With his three singles wins last week, junior Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) moved into second place on UB’s all-time wins list in singles play. Rockman scored his 65th win on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over IPFW’s Landry Nzudie. The win moved him past current women’s assistant coach Fery Kasiman’s total of 64. Rockman also posted a pair of three-set wins last week, with a super-tiebreaker win over Niagara’s Walter Garcia and a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over Northern Illinois’ Brian Livingston to clinch UB’s win over the Huskies.
Don’t Remove This Stane
Octavian Stane | Freshman Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) was inserted into the singles lineup during the spring break trip and hasn’t disappointed. Playing in the fourth singles spot, Stane went undefeated last week and has posted a 12-6 record this season. He evened his MAC record to 2-2 with a straight-set win over David Katz of Northern Illinois and a super-tiebreaker victory over IPFW’s Hermann Kuschke.
