Men's Tennis Defeats St. Lawrence and CanisiusBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team notched two non-conference victories this weekend, bringing its winning streak to three. Victories over Canisius and St. Lawrence raised the Bulls' record to 14-3 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-American Conference. UB swept both matches, posting 7-0 victories in each contest. Against local-rival Canisius College, senior Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) and sophomore Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) started the Bulls off on the right track with an 8-0 win at first doubles over Greg Kingston and Bob Fahey. At second doubles, junior captain Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) and senior Dave Emihovich (Getzville, NY/Williamsville North) added an 8-1 win over Chris Ellis and Rob Voy to clinch the doubles point. Juniors Tim Powell (Rochester, NY/Irondequoit) and Sean Kelley (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) completed the sweep at third doubles, with an 8-0 victory by default. The Bulls took all six singles matches to complete the sweep. Susanto began the six-match sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kingston, while Kasiman followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Fahey. At third singles Brtko defeated Ellis 6-0, 6-0. Emihovich picked up the 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles over Voy. At fifth singles, Kelley notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kyle Hejmauski, while Powell recorded a win by default at sixth singles. "This was the most dominating win that we've had since I've been at UB," said head coach Russ Crispell. "They came out to win big today." UB continued its winning ways against St. Lawrence, notching a 7-0 victory. Susanto and Kasiman posted an 8-3 first-doubles victory while Brtko and Emihovich won 8-1 at second doubles. With the doubles point already secured, Powell and Kelley picked up an 8-3 victory at third-doubles. Susanto, Kasiman, Brtko, Emihovich and Kelley picked up victories at first through fifth singles respectively, while at sixth singles, sophomore Brent Persia (Pembroke, NY/Pembroke) notched a 6-4, 6-2 victory. "The entire squad played extremely strong in all matches," said Crispell. "They played sound tennis, just as they have been doing all year long." The Bulls' next competition is Tuesday, April 17, at the Village Glen Tennis Center, against
