Men's Tennis Weekly Release April 7, 2000Western Michigan University defeated the University at Buffalo 7-0 in Mid-American Conference men's tennis action Friday afternoon at UB's University Tennis Club. UB's top singles players performed well but dropped their matches. Number one player Budi Susanto (Bali, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) lost to Steve Pillon 6-4, 6-0. Susanto is now 13-13 overall as the Bulls' top singles seed this season. In the most exciting match of the afternoon, Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Fernando Garcia. Kasiman is now 10-5 in singles play since joining the Bulls to begin the second semester. Coach Russ Crispell commented after the match, "We had a real exciting match at second singles with Fery showing his strength and determination as a player." With the loss, the Bulls complete their MAC schedule with an 0-6 mark and are now 8-12 overall. UB has a pair of non-conference matches remaining hosting Canisius on Wednesday April 12 and traveling to St. Francis (Pa.) on April 19. Western Michigan is now 10-7 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Broncos travel to Eastern Michigan and Toledo for MAC matches to complete the weekend. MATCH RESULTS Western Michigan 7, UB 0
