Bulls Slip Close to .500 Mark With Pair of MAC Losses

After posting a five-match winning streak that propelled the team well past the .500 mark to 8-4, the Bulls have now lost their last three matches to slip closer to the break-even point and are 8-7. Last weekend’s losses at Ball State (7-0) and Toledo (6-1) also kept the team winless in the Mid-American Conference at 0-3, however the three league losses were to the conference’s top three programs.

The lone weekend victory in the two-match MAC road trip was picked up by sophomore Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) in the second singles match against Toledo. Singh Panthlia defeated the Rockets’ Chris Clark in a first-set tiebreaker and then rolled to a 6-2 win in the second set for the victory. The win was Singh Panthlia’s 15th singles triumph of the season, tying him for the team lead with Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea).

The Magic Number is Ten

With the current singles lineup that the Bulls have employed over the last few matches, four players have already reached 10 victories for the season and the remaining two are knocking on the door with nine apiece. Rockman and Singh Panthlia have 15 victories each to lead the team while Matt Kennedy (Mississauga, Ontario/Erindale) has 13 and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) has 10. Yules Hadisbroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) and Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) have nine apiece. Singh Panthlia and Hadisubroto lead the doubles combinations with 11 victories. No other doubles tandem has more than four wins.
