FORT WAYNE, IN - The University at Buffalo picked up its first Mid-American Conference men's tennis victory of the season on Friday with 7-0 win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne. The match was held indoors at Fort Wayne's Wildwood Racquet Club. UB is now 7-9 overall and 1-1 in the MAC while the IPFW, an affiliate member of the MAC for men's tennis only, is 7-9 and 0-1 in league play.

UB earned the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At first doubles, the duo of Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) and Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) defeated Michael Parker and Daniel Jackson, 8-3. At number two, the UB tandem of Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) knocked off Carlos Gonzalez and Ryan Orr, 8-2. The lone blemish on the Bulls' side of the ledger was at third doubles as UB's Rangga Prayudha (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy/Ventura College) and Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) were defeated by Jessy Nikho and Ian Leonhardt, 8-5.

The Bulls swept the singles contests, highlighted by an impressive victory by Rocchio over Parker at number one. Rocchio needed a first-set tiebreaker to down the Mastodons' top player, scoring a 13-11 victory in the tiebreaker, on his way to a 7-6 (11), 6-4 win. Prayudha also went to a tiebreaker to score his win over Orr at fifth singles. Prayudha took the opening set, 6-4, but fell in the second set, 3-6, to force the ten-point tiebreaker. Prayudha defeated Orr 10-8 in the breaker.

The remainder of UB's singles wins came in straight sets without a hint of trouble. At number two, Zieziula rolled past Gonzalez, 6-0, 6-1. At number three, Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornhill) defeated Leonhardt, 6-2, 6-2. Liederman, at number four, downed Nikho, 6-1, 6-4. Hadisubroto completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jackson.

The Bulls continue their three-match MAC roadtrip at Northern Illinois on Saturday with the match slated to get underway at 2:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time. UB concludes the trip with a Sunday match at Ball State at 1:00 pm, Eastern Daylight Time.
