Men's Tennis Falls at Ball State, 7-0

The Bulls had trouble getting any momentum on Saturday as they dropped all three doubles matches to open play. At number one, the UB combination of Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) and Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) fell to Matt Baccarani and Joe Epkey by an 8-1 score. The number two and three matches were decided by identical 8-3 scores. At number two, UB’s Matt Kennedy (Mississauga, Ontario/Erindale) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) were defeated by Tony Epkey and Jarrod Epkey while UB’s number three team of Mike Zappone (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Alejandro Galindo (Torreon, Mexico/Preparatoria Tec) lost to Patrick Thompson and Joe Vallee.

The Bulls were also swept in the singles contests, unable to take a set from the homestanding Cardinals. Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) fell to Baccarani, 6-3, 6-2, in the number one match. At number two, Singh Panthlia was decisioned by Joe Epkey, 6-1, 6-4. Hadisubroto dropped a 6-1, 6-3 outcome to Tony Epkey at number three. At number four, Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) fell to Patrick Thompson, 6-3, 6-0. Alant was defeated by Jarrod Epkey, 6-0, 6-1, at number five. At number six, Kennedy fell to Danny Vidal, 6-4, 6-3.

The Bulls complete their weekend matches tomorrow at Toledo. Match time is 1:00 pm.
