KALAMAZOO, MI Ė The University at Buffalo menís tennis team got back into the win column on Saturday with a 7-0 win over Kalamazoo College, ranked 13th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Associationís Division III poll. The Bulls are now 5-11 overall while Kalamazoo is 6-8, with three of their losses coming to Division I programs.
The Bulls swept all six singles matches with the top five going to UB in straight sets. Freshman Kirill Kolomytes (Moscow, Russia/Moscow High School 155) scored the most impressive singles win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cyrus Jadun in the number three match. Sophomore Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) needed a third-set super-tiebreaker to dispose of Luke Marker in the number six match, 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).
UBís top two doubles teams secured wins as Kolomytes paired with Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) for an 8-5 win over Alec Kempster and Jason Brown in the number one match. At number two, Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) defeated Jadun and Tim Hubbard, 9-7.
The Bulls are next in action on April 13 when they host Northern Illinois.
