Josh Liederman Wins MAC Tennis Player of the Week Award
BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo's Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) was named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The award was announced by the league office in Cleveland late Tuesday afternoon. Liederman, a senior, won the deciding match in UB's 4-3 victory over MAC rival Toledo last Saturday night at the Village Glen Tennis Center. Liederman won a third-set tiebreaker over the Rockets' Travis Curran to claim the individual victory and give the Bulls the match. Liederman defeated Curran in the fourth singles match, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (5). "For Josh Liederman, that was a career-making victory," said head coach Russ Crispell following Saturday night's match. "It was something that was a long time coming. Josh was indeed the focus of our success this week. His hard work finally paid off." UB's win over the Rockets was the third consecutive for the Bulls, including last season's 4-1 win in the MAC Tournament and a 4-3 regular season win at Toledo. The Bulls (5-7 overall, 1-1 MAC) are home throughout the month of April, beginning this
weekend with MAC matches against Ball State on Friday and Northern Illinois on Saturday. Both
matches will be at the Village Glen Tennis Center with Friday's match slated to begin at 7:00 pm and
Saturday's contest starting at 1:00 pm. |
