The Bulls picked up a pair of singles victories against the Jaspers. At second singles, junior Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) played a marathon two-setter against Manhattan's Zolton Bus, defeating the Romanian, 7-5, 6-4 to gain UB's first point of the match. At sixth singles, freshman Fred Duncan (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) rallied past Mathias Kruttli, 6-3, 6-3. Duncan trailed 3-2 in both the first and second sets before winning the final four games in both sets to take the match.

Rockman’s singles victory improved the junior to 15-9 in singles play this season to lead squad. Rockman and sophomore Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) had shared the team lead with 14 prior to the Manhattan match. Rockman has now compiled 62 singles wins and is within striking distance of the top two spots on UB’s career victory list. Current women’s assistant coach Fery Kasiman is second with 64 wins while men’s assistant coach Nick Zieziula holds the top spot with 69.

Hit the Road, Jack

The remainder of the schedule features no home matches. UB travels to Ball State on Saturday and Toledo on Sunday as they return to MAC action. The Bulls are also away from home throughout April with road matches at Niagara, Northern Illinois, IPFW and Binghamton before the MAC Tournament in Toledo.
