BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) has been named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced the award in Cleveland.

Singh Panthlia, a sophomore, went 3-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles action during UB's three matches in Hilton Head, SC. Playing second singles, he defeated Dayton's James O'Connell and Bloomsburg's Daniel Phillips by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores. He moved up to first singles against Denison, where he rallied for a three-set win over Jordan Buehler, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-3 to help the Bulls win five singles matches and claim a 5-1 win over the Big Red.

Singh Panthlia, who joined the UB program this season after spending his freshman campaign at South Carolina-Aiken, is 14-8 in singles play and 12-8 in his doubles contests. The 14 singles wins is tied for the team lead.

The Bulls won all three matches in South Carolina and are now riding a five-match winning streak. UB hosts Manhattan in the final home match of the regular season at the Village Glen Tennis Center on Saturday, March 25. Warm-ups will begin at 6:00 pm with play slated to start at 6:30 pm.
