Weekly ReleaseUB opened their home spring schedule with a St. Patrick's Day matchup with Eastern Michigan. The Bulls dropped the 5-2 decision to the Eagles and fell to 8-7 overall and 0-2 in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls picked up singles victories from Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/Hilton Head Prep) and Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East). Kasiman, at number two, defeated Jake Stricker 6-3, 6-3. Brtko rallied to defeat Kory Gernhofer in three sets. After dropping the first set 6-4, Brtko took the second 6-2 and pulled out the match with a 7-6 decision, 9-7 in the tiebreaker. Coach Russ Crispell's squad has a busy week ahead of them. The Bulls face St.
Bonaventure on Wednesday in Olean, NY. UB then visits three MAC opponents over the weekend taking
on Bowling Green and Toledo in Toledo, OH on Saturday and traveling to Ball State on Sunday. |
