HILTON HEAD, SC – The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team won its fourth straight match on Wednesday morning with a 7-0 whitewashing of Division II Bloomsburg at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, SC. The Bulls improve to 7-4 in dual-meet play this season.

The Bulls dominated the match from start to finish with little pressure from the Huskies. UB claimed the doubles point with three wins. UB’s top duo of Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) and Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) downed Daniel Gal and Daniel Phillips, 8-3. The number two and three matches went to the Bulls by 8-5 margins with Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) at number two and Mike Zappone (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) and Alejandro Galindo (Torreon, Mexico/Preparatoria Tec) at number three taking the victories.

UB also breezed in the singles matches with the number one match between Rockman and Gal turning out to be the closest of the six. Rockman was forced into a first-set tiebreaker, winning 7-4, to defeat his Bloomsburg opponent, 7-6 (4), 6-1. Singh Panthlia defeated Phillips, 6-3, 6-3, at number two. Hadisubroto, at number three, earned a forfeit win after Ryan Glubo retired following the first set. Hadisubroto won the set, 6-1. Matt Kennedy (Mississauga, Ontario/Erindale) rolled past Andrew Slike, 6-0, 6-1, at number four. Octavian Stane (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) downed Geoff Whiteley, 6-1, 6-2, at number five. At number six, Joe Popielarczyk (Buffalo, NY/McKinley) picked up an easy 6-1, 6-0 victory over Justin Hertzog.
