Men's Tennis Falls to Stetson, 7-0

Rocchio and Zieziula pick up lone doubles win for Bulls

DeLAND, FL - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team completed their march through Florida with a 7-0 loss to a strong Stetson University team in DeLand, FL. UB fell to 8-7 overall and finished the spring break trip with a 3-1 record. Stetson earned its 10th consecutive win in the contest.

The Bulls dropped the doubles point winning just one of the three matches. Number one duo Randy Rochhio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) and Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) posted an 8-4 win over Christian Moe and Birger Soiland for the Bulls' lone victory of the day. Number two team Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) and Rangga Prahudha (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) dropped an 8-5 decision to Jason Cordova and Thomas Bross while the number three team of Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany) and Chris Pyke (Watertown, NY/Watertown) played well for the second straight match but fell to Alexander Antonijevic and Vittorio Fratta, 9-8.

Stetson took all six singles matches, but the Bulls put up a good fight. At number one, Kasiman was defeated, 6-3, 6-4, by Antonijevic. Rocchio was also a 6-3, 6-4 loser at number two to Moe. Number three Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) and Prahudha, at number four, lost by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores to Soiland and Fatta, respectively. Zieziula was decisioned, 6-4, 6-2, by Mario Cayo at number five. Number six Ivan Chamdani (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) fell, 6-2, 6-0, to Cordova to complete the sweep.

The Bulls return north as they visit the University of Rochester on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
