Bulls Bow to Bears, 4-3 Men’s tennis falls at Mercer
MACON, GA – The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team fell 4-3 to Mercer on Saturday as the Bulls continue their three-match weekend road swing. The Bulls are now 7-4 overall while Mercer is 4-4. The Bulls took one of three doubles matches from the Bears. The number one team of Marcelo Mazzetto and Kirill Kolomyts score UB’s lone doubles victory as they downed Chapman Mitchell and Fernando Armendaris by an 8-6 score. It was the 10th victory of the season for the UB duo. Mazzetto and Kolomyts also scored singles wins for the Bulls. Mazzetto, at first singles, needed to rally from a one-set deficit to defeat Justin Wimpee, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Kolomyts earned his win in the third singles match when Matthew Poleon was forced to withdraw. Kolomyts won the opening set, 7-6. Picking up his first career singles win was Guilherme Smaniotto. Smaniotto, in the number six match, knocked off Mark Worsham, 7-6, 6-3. The Bulls travel to Jacksonville State to complete the weekend. The Bulls tangle with the Gamecocks on Sunday at 11 am.
