Bulls Rally To Defeat Bucknell

The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team rallied past Bucknell, 5-2, in a non-conference showdown at the St. Bonaventure Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The win was UB’s fourth in a row and sixth in the last seven matches.

Stane, Custers Win Doubles and Singles Matches

The Bulls dropped the doubles point to behind the Bison, 1-0. UB’s lone win in the doubles came in the number three match as Octavian Stane and Kristof Custers defeated Mark Malloy and Daniel Bednarek, 9-7. Both Custers and Stane won their singles contests after both dropped the first sets. Custers earned a win at number four after Malloy was forced to retire due to an injury during the super-tiebreaker. Stane took command of his match at number six against Gregory Maxson with a 6-2 win in the second set and a 10-3 win in the super-tiebreaker.

Bulls Gain Forfeit Victory Over Chicago State

The Bulls were awarded a forfeit victory over Chicago State on February 21 in what would have been the Mid-American Conference opener for both squads. The Cougars were down to just four healthy players and decided not to make the trip to Buffalo.

Spring Matches in Georgia and Alabama on Tap

UB’s spring matches will take place this weekend as the Bulls travel to Georgia and Alabama. UB will take on Kennesaw State on March 6, Mercer on March 7 and Jacksonville State on March 8. The matches will be the first ever against each of the programs.
