Bulls Rally Past Bucknell, 5-2 Men's tennis surrenders doubles point then wins five singles matches
ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team rallied past Bucknell, 5-2, in a non-conference showdown at the St. Bonaventure Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls dropped the doubles point to behind the Bison, 1-0. UB’s lone win in the doubles came in the number three match as Octavian Stane and Kristof Custers defeated Mark Malloy and Daniel Bednarek, 9-7. UB won the match with five of six singles wins with the top three players claiming straight-set wins. Marcelo Mazzetto, Kirill Kolomyts and Alex Kalinin earned wins in the top three slots. After dropping the first set, Custers and Stane rallied for UB wins. Custers earned a win at number four after Malloy was forced to retire due to an injury during the super-tiebreaker. Stane took command of his match at number six against Gregory Maxson with a 6-2 win in the second set and a 10-3 win in the super-tiebreaker. The Bulls travel to Georgia and Alabama next weekend for spring break matches against Kennesaw State, Mercer and Jacksonville State.
