ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team took the brooms to non-conference opponents Bucknell and Duquesne with a pair of victories Saturday at St. Bonaventure University. In the first match of the day, the Bulls downed the Bison by a 5-2 score, then picked up a 6-1 win over the Dukes in the nightcap.

UB junior Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) became the school's single-season victory leader in singles play during the Division I era. Zieziula picked up the mark in his opening match, a 6-1, 6-4 win over Bucknell's Gerald DiChiara at second singles. Zieziula moved up to the number one singles spot for his win against Duquesne's Devon Peightal, 7-6 (1), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8). Zieziula passed John Lavere's 1992-93 season total of 20 singles wins and now stands with a 22-8 mark in 2003-04.

Zieziula also paired with Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) at the top doubles spot to pick up victories over Bucknell's Nick Denefrio and Matt Pikus (8-4) and Duquesne's Peightal and Rodrigo Lacayo (8-6).

The Bulls host Mid-American Conference rival and 63rd-ranked Western Michigan in their only home appearance of the season on Sunday. The match, held at the Village Glen Tennis Center, is slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
