PROVIDENCE, RI – The University at Buffalo men’s tennis team completed its two-match, two-state doubleheader late Saturday evening with a 6-1 loss at number 57 ranked Brown. The Bulls even their record at 4-4, coupled with a 4-2 loss at Boston College earlier on Saturday. Brown is now 11-3 overall.

UB scored a doubles win but was unable to clinch the point. The number three tandem of Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) scored an 8-4 win over Noah Gardner and Joe Scott. However, Brown pulled out the point with wins in the number one and two matches.

In singles play, with four courts available, Brown captured the top four matches to clinch the match before the teams agreed to play pro-set matches in the number five and six contests.

UB’s lone win in the singles matches was at number five as Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) needed a tiebreaker to down Scott, 9-8 (5). Each of the top three matches, Rockman at number one, Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) at number two and Kirill Kolomytes (Moscow, Russia/Moscow High School 155) at number three were decided in three sets.

The Bulls travel to Stony Brook and Cornell for matches next weekend.
