Bulls Run Past Raiders, 6-1 Men's tennis completes weekend sweep
WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 victory over in-state rival Colgate on Sunday afternoon at the Village Glen Tennis Center. The Bulls improved to 5-2 overall, winning their second home match of the weekend. Colgate is now 3-5. The Bulls swept all three of the doubles contests to gain the opening point. UB's number two and three doubles teams both scored 8-4 wins as the first two matches to finish, giving the Bulls the 1-0 lead. The number three team of Octavian Stane and Kristof Custers scored the clinching point for the second time in as many matches following their win over Duquesne on Friday. UB took control of the match picking up first set leads in five of the six contests. The Bulls won all five of those matches with Custers, in the number three match, claiming the clinching fourth point with his 6-3, 6-4 win over John Nogueras. Stane and Tiago Gandum scored the second and third points at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, with straight set wins. Mitch Zenaty and Alex Kalinin also scored singles wins for the Bulls. The Bulls next face Robert Morris on Friday, February 27 at 2:45 pm at the Village Glen.
