WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team had no trouble defeating Manhattan Friday night with a 7-0 pounding of the Jaspers at the Village Glen Tennis Center. The Bulls improved to 3-6 overall while Manhattan slipped to 0-4.

In singles play, UB players allowed just one game against them in the number two through six matches. The only match that was competitive was the number one match as UB's Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) needed a third-set super-tiebreaker to down Mihai Nichifor, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).

The remainder of the singles matches also went to the Bulls. At number two, Marcelo Mazzetto (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Carlos Magno) earned a win when his opponent, Filip Szymik was forced to retire in the second set. Mazzetto led the match, 6-0, 1-0 when play was halted. At number three, Kirill Kolomytes (Moscow, Russia/Moscow High School 155) scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Michael Borger.

UB also swept the doubles competition, highlighted by the 8-0 victory at number two by Wynter and Kolomytes.

The Bulls host Mid-American Conference rival Toledo at the Village Glen Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. Play begins at noon.
