Bulls Drop Men's Tennis Clash to Binghamton UB falls to Bearcats, 7-0, on neutral courts
ITHACA, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to America East member Binghamton Saturday afternoon at Cornell University's Reis Tennis Center. The Bulls are now 3-2 overall while the Bearcats improve to 4-1. Although Binghamton swept all nine matches, the Bulls put up a strong effort, forcing two of the three doubles matches to tiebreakers. In the number one doubles match, UB's Kirill Kolomyts and Marcelo Mazzetto fell 7-1 in the tiebreaker to Gilbert Wong and Sven Vloedgraven. This was shortly after UB's number two tandem of Mitch Zenaty and Alexey Kalinin forced Alexandre Haggai and Arnav Jain into a tiebreaker, won by Binghamton, 7-5. The Bulls continued the fight in singles but dropped each match. Kalinin forced Jain into a first set tiebreaker in the number three match while Alexis Lluis sent the number six match to a second set tiebreaker, falling 8-6 in the breaker, to Rafael Rodrigues. UB opens a weekend homestand on Friday, February 20 against Duquesne at 5:00 pm at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Williamsville. The Bulls will also host Chicago State and Colgate next weekend.
