Bulls Shut Out Niagara, 7-0 Men's tennis team scores sweep over Western New York rivals
NORTH TONAWANDA, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team scored a 7-0 victory over Western New York rival Niagara late Friday night at the Sportsplex in North Tonawanda. The Bulls (3-1) swept all nine matches from the Purple Eagles and did not allow Niagara a set in singles play. UB open with three wins in doubles play. The top team of Kirill Kolomyts and Marcelo Mazzetto cruised to an easy 8-2 win over Marc Dickinson and Roman Silin. UB also scored an 8-5 win at number two from Mitch Zenaty and Alexey Kalinin and an 8-1 victory at number three from Kristof Custers and Guilherme Smaniotto. In singles play, the Bulls swept all six matches not allowing a set to the homestanding Purple Ealges. Custers, at number four, and Zenaty, at number five, rolled over their opponents allowing just one game each against them. Mazzetto, at number one, earned a victory after Silin retired due to an injury early in the match. The Bulls travel to Ithaca tomorrow for a neutral site match against Binghamton. The match is slated for Cornell's Reis Tennis Center at noon.
