WEST POINT, NY – For the third time this season, the University at Buffalo traveled to West Point to face Army in men’s tennis action. The fall’s Army Shootout and last month’s Army Winter Invitational saw the Bulls and Black Knights battle in tournament formats, while Sunday’s action was a dual-meet with UB falling 5-2.

The Bulls scored a pair of singles victories. Number two Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) defeated Sebastian Salas, 6-1, 6-3 while Matt Kennedy (Mississauga, Ontario/Erindale) defeated Alex Chang, 6-0, 6-3 at number six. For Rockman, it was the 20^th singles win of the season for the sophomore. He is 20-9 in singles play this season, including a 7-3 record as a number two seed.

The remainder of the singles went to the Black Knights. At number one, UB’s Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) fell to John Houghton, 6-3, 6-2. At number three, Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Eddie Kang. Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) lost at number four to Kevin Harris, 6-4, 6-4. Number five Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) fell to David Collins, 7-6, 6-3.

Rockman and Liederman also picked up a doubles victory as the UB’s number two team knocked off Houghton and Salas, 8-2. At number one, Zieziula and Hadisubroto lost to Carl Fisher and Kyle Roybal, 8-4. Alant and Kennedy, at number three, fell 8-3 to Josh Jones and Sheldon Hodges.

The Bulls travel to Rochester to face the Yellowjackets on Wednesday, February 16.
