Bulls Score Win Over Massachusetts

Buffalo defeats UMass 6-1 in men's tennis action

ITHACA, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team began competition in its 2002 season last weekend at the Cornell Invitational at Cornell University. UB finished the two-day tournament with a 4-3 loss to Marist, a 7-0 loss to Cornell and a 6-1 win over the University of Massachusetts.

In competition against Massachusetts, Fery Kasiman (Jarkarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) took a victory at first singles over Todd Champeau, 6-4, 6-4. At second singles, Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) defeated Eric Reblin, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) fell to Reid Stubbs at a close third-singles match, 4-6, 6-3, 1-6. At fourth singles, freshman Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) defeated Mark Porter, 6-3, 6-1. Senior Sean Kelley (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) took the fifth-singles victory by default.

In doubles play, freshman duo Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany) and Josh Liederman (Queens, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) took the doubles win, also by default.

The Bulls will continue competition next weekend at the St. Bonaventure Duals Invitational in Olean, NY.
