Bulls Fall To Cornell

Buffalo loses second match at Cornell Invitational in men's tennis action

ITHACA, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team began competition in its 2002 season at the Cornell Invitational at Cornell University. UB began the two-day tournament with a 4-3 loss to Marist before falling 7-0 to Cornell.

In singles action, Fery Kasiman (Jarkarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) fell at first singles in a close match to Julian Cheng, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. At second singles, Justin Brtko (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) fell to Aravinda Neuman, 6-1, 6-0. At third singles Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) fell to Mike Schlappig, 6-3, 6-2. Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) lost a close match at fourth singles to Matt Cherner-Ranft, 7-6, 7-5. Sean Kelley (Gorham, NY/Marcus Whitman) fell to Sunil Iyer at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-2. In doubles play, freshman duo Rohan Raikar (Albany, NY/Albany) and Josh Liederman (Queens, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) fell to Scott Spencer and Scott Paltrowitz, 6-2, 7-5.

The Bulls will continue competition next weekend at the St. Bonaventure Duals Invitational in Olean, NY.
