Zieziula and Rocchio combine for doubles victory for the Bulls

ITHACA, NY - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team opened the Cornell Duals with a 5-2 loss to the host Big Red at the Reis Tennis Center. The loss evens UB's season record to 3-3.

UB picked up the match's doubles contest, worth two points in the scoring, as the duo of Nick Zieziula (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Randy Rocchio (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) survived a tiebreaker. Zieziula and Rocchio opened with a 6-3 win over Abedin Sham and Sunil Iyer in the first set but dropped the second set, 6-4, to force the tiebreaker. UB's pair outlasted the Cornell duo win the tiebreaker, 12-10.

UB's singles players had a rough time, falling in all five matches in straight sets. Fery Kasiman (Jakarta, Indonesia/ESI International Academy) fell to Zach Gallin, 6-1, 6-4 at number one. Number two Josh Liederman (Queens Village, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) was defeated by Scott Paltrowitz, 6-1, 6-4.
