Bulls Have Strong Showing at Cornell Invitational

UB Kicks Off Spring Season at Cornell

Buffalo traveled to take part in the prestigous Cornell Invitational this past weekend in Ithaca, NY. Dartmouth, UMass, Assumption, Binghamton, St. Bonaventure, Lehigh, Bloomsburg, Marist, and Cornell were among the top teams in the Northeast to compete.

Kasiman Earns Bulls First-Ever Finals Berth at Cornell Invite

Freshman Fery Kasiman, playing in his first collegiate event, beat opponents from Binghamton, UMass and St. Bonaventure to make the B-Singles Flight semi-finals. Kasiman defeated the tournament's No. 1 seed, Russ Gimelstob of Cornell, in the semifinals 7-6 (2), 6-1. Kasiman eventually fell to Cornell's Joe Chrisman in the finals 7-5, 6-2 after losing an early 5-3 lead.

Susanto, Brtko Advance to Quarterfinals

Junior captain Budi Susanto and sophomore Justin Brtko also faired well at the tournament as they both advanced to the quarterfinals in the A and B singles flights, respectively. Highlights of Susanto's performance included a 6-4, 6-3 win over the number two ranked player from Assumption while Brtko downed the No. 2 seed Eric Shelt from Marist, 7-5, 6-1.
