PROVIDENCE, RI - The University at Buffalo men's tennis team fell to Brown, 7-0, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, RI. The Bulls are now 2-1 overall as they complete a road swing through New England to open the spring portion of the campaign.

UB was unable to gain any momentum that they had picked up in Friday night's 6-1 victory at Boston University. All three UB doubles teams were easily outmatched by the stronger Ivy League opponents. At number one, Yules Hadisubroto (Jakarta, Indonesia/SMUN 21) and Nikesh Singh Panthlia (George Town, Malaysia/BMK Penang Free School) fell to Chris Lee and Saurabh Kohli, 8-2. The number two squad of Mike Rockman (Toronto, Ontario/Thornlea) and Albert Alant (Pretoria, South Africa/Niskayuna (NY)) lost by an identical 8-2 margin to Eric Thomas and Scott Blumenkranz. UB's number three tandem of Matt Kennedy (Mississauga, Ontario/Erindale) and Fred Duncan (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) posted the most wins in doubles, but fell to Luke Tedaldi and Basudev Ratnam, 8-4.

In singles play, the Bulls were swept in straight sets in five of the six matches. Kennedy, playing fifth singles, was the only UB player to avoid falling in two sets. His match against Sam Garland was decided in a super-tiebreaker. Garland opened the match by winning the first set, 6-2, before Kennedy rallied to take the second set in a tiebreaker. The two battled in the super-tiebreaker, Kennedy's second in less than 24 hours, before Garland pulled out a 10-8 decision for the Bears.

The Bulls found the going tough in the remainder of the singles matches. At number one, Rockman fell to Dan Hanegby, 6-3, 6-0. At number two, Singh Panthlia lost to Phil Charm, 6-3, 6-2. Hadisubroto, at number three, fell to Ratnam, 6-2, 6-2. At number five, Duncan lost to Tedaldi, 6-2, 6-1. In the number six match, Alant lost to Noah Gardner, 6-1, 7-6 (5).

UB is back in action on February 5 when they travel to West Point for a pair of matches. The Bulls will take on the Black Knights at 9:00 am and then face Binghamton on the neutral courts at 3:00 pm.
