Daniel Schulefand Named Assistant Men's Tennis CoachBUFFALO, NY - Daniel Schulefand will be joining head coach Russ Crispell in coaching the University at Buffalo men's tennis team. "It is a thrill to have the opportunity to hire someone of Dan's talent to serve as our new assistant tennis coach," said head coach Russ Crispell. "Dan brings to the program extensive national playing experience, a strong connection to the Western New York area, and a solid educational background that will be helpful to the student-athletes at the University at Buffalo." Schulefand is a graduate of the Nichols School where he played first singles, was a Monsignor Martin Champion in singles and doubles and was a nationally-ranked junior player. Schulefand received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UB in 1988 where he played first singles with a career record of 63-19 and first doubles with a record of 29-14. Schulefand was ranked among the top 20 NCAA Division III players and participated in the 1987 and 1988 NCAA Division III tennis championships. He was a SUNYAC Champion in 1986, 1987 and 1988 and an ECAC Runner-up in 1987. Schulefand received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami in 1991 and was ranked second in Florida men's 25s. "Dan's focus of responsibility will be on recruiting, alumni relations and of course, coaching," said Crispell. Buffalo will return to action on February 9 -10 at the Cornell Duals Invitational. |
