Nick Zieziula is in his third season as an assistant coach with the UB men s tennis program after completing a successful four-year career with the Bulls. At the time of his graduation from the program in 2005, Zieziula had become UB's all-time leader in both singles wins (69) and doubles wins (65) at the Division I level. Zieziula was the Bulls' Most Valuable Player and an All-Mid-American Conference Second Team selection in 2004-05 after leading the team to three MAC victories and to its highest conference finish ever (third among six schools) since joining the league in 1999. Zieziula won his last three singles matches of the season, including a 6-0, 6-2 win over IPFW's Landry Nzudie to lead the Bulls into the semifinals of the MAC Championships. It was the second consecutive year that the Bulls advanced into the tournament's semifinal round. A native of nearby Hamburg, NY, Zieziula was a three-time team captain, the Bulls' Coach's Award winner as both a sophomore and a junior and the team's Top Newcomer as a freshman. A psychology major, he was a UB Scholar Athlete and an Academic All-MAC honoree in 2003-04. Zieziula was also active in UB's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee throughout his playing career, serving as president in 2004-05, vice-president in 2003-04 and secretary in 2002-03. He was one of four recipients of the Intercollegiate Athletics Board Student-Athlete Leader Award in 2004-05. In November of 2006, Zieziula became a part-owner of The Pro's Shop at the Village Glen Tennis and Fitness Club in Williamsville. The Pro's Shop sells tennis equipment and supplies including many major brands. Additionally, he also serves as a teaching professional for players of all ages and abilities at the Village Glen. |
