2006-07: Set lifetime-bests in the final races of the 100 and 200 breaststoke at the MAC Championships. Won the consolation final in the 100 breaststroke (59.18) and placed 13th overall in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.99). Swam the breaststroke portions of both of UB’s medley relays at the MAC Championships helping the Bulls to fourth-place finishes and season-best times in both events.

High School: Earned five letters and captained one season at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School for coach Kevin Fitzpatrick. Named to the Capital District All-Star team in 2005 and 2006. Set school and pool records for the 100 breaststroke. Also swam for seven years with the Schenectady Swim Club for coach Jerome Adams.

Personal: Born October 3, 1988. Son of Dan and Sheri Matthews. Has one brother (Jamie). Favorite food is macaroni and cheese. Enjoys rock and roll music and his favorite musician is Eric Clapton. Majoring in mechanical engineering.
