McLachlan Earns MAC HonorsBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo's Jason McLachlan (Arvarda, CO) was named the Mid-American Conference's Men's Swimmer of the Week the league announced. McLachlan, a senior mechanical engineering major, earned the award thanks to his impressive performance in the Bulls' 151-74 win over Niagara December 7. In the meet's first event, the 400 medley relay, McLachlan swam the anchor leg powering the Bulls to a winning time of 3:36.33. Individually, McLachlan won three events. He won the 200 freestyle in 1:43.92, the 200 individual medley in 2:03.39 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.56. The Bulls won the first 12 of the 13 scheduled events on the evening, not entering a squad in the final event, the 400 free relay. McLachlan has compiled the fastest time for the Bulls this season in four events, the 200 freestyle (1:43.92), the 500 freestyle (4:40.46), the 1650 freestyle (16:04.49) and the 400 individual medley (4:03.33). This season, McLachlan turned in lifetime bests in the 200 freestyle and 200 individual medley during the Niagara meet and the 1650 freestyle at the Nittany Lion Invitational earlier this month. His time in the 400 individual medley is also the third fastest in the Mid-American Conference this season. The Bulls, under 14th-year head coach Budd Termin, have produced 45 lifetime best times this season and 36 in the month of December. McLachlan becomes the second UB swimmer to earn MAC Swimmer of the Week honors
as teammate Eric Stimson earned the award November 21. In addition, Abby Delia took the league
award November 14 on the women's side. With its total of three, UB has now garnered the award more
than other MAC school this season. |
