BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo men's swimmer Tony Lizauckas (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) has been named Men's Swimmer of the Week by the Mid-American Conference.

The junior co-captain led the Bulls to their first victory of the season last week, a 147-60 win over Niagara at Alumni Arena Natatorium. Lizauckas finished first in the 50 freestyle in a season-best 22:21 and in the 200 backstroke in 1:57.52. Lizauckas also swam the opening leg for UB's winning 400 medley relay squad that finished in 3:53.53.

Lizauckas currently has the ninth-best time in the Mid-American Conference in the 100 backstroke at 54.31, set at the Miami Invitational. He also ranks 11th in the 200 backstroke (1:56.14), 13th in the 50 freestyle (22.21) and 15th in the 200 freestyle (1:48.68).

The Bulls are next in action on January 12 when they travel to Niagara for a rematch with the Purple Eagles.
