Men's Swimming Conclude First Day Of Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo men's swimming squad ended its day on a high note after collecting 262 points and in sixth place in the SummaCare Invitational. Freshman Cassidy Lynch (Westminster, CO/Legacy) plunged the waters of the Ocasek Natatorium in the 3-meter diving event and came away with a record-breaking point total.

Lynch shattered the previous meet and pool record of 286.90 by posting a career-best 316.35, taking the finals in the 3-meter diving. His preliminary total of 290 was a whole 105 points more than second place finisher, Clarion's Sean Clark. Senior Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) posted impressive numbers for Buffalo as well, as he pulled away with fourth place out of a field of 24 in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:56.21, which is a season-best. Freshman Mike Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) also came away with a season-best performance in the 200 IM. placing 12th in a lifetime-best time of 1:59.45.

The Bulls return to action on Saturday for Day Two of the SummaCare Invitational, which begins at 9 a.m. with the preliminaries and concludes at 6 p.m. The Invitational's final day is Sunday.
