Men's Swimmers Fourth at PSU Invite

Bulls complete second day of competition at meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The University at Buffalo men's swimming team remains fourth after the second day of the Nittany Lion Invitational. The Bulls have 353.50 points, trailing 20th ranked Penn State (771), Maryland-Baltimore County (657) and local rival St. Bonaventure (595.50) in the four team event.

The Bulls picked up strong performances in the 400 individual medley as UB placed two swimmers in the A final. Jason McLachlan (Arvada, CO) placed third in 4:03.33 while teammate Eric Stimson (North Tonawanda, NY) was fourth in 4:09.99. Alan Lowe (Brownsville, TX) was 12th in the event for the Bulls in 4:26.73.

Stimson also finished sixth in the 100 backstroke in 52.49 and was part of the 200 medley relay squad along with Mike Szyprowski (Grand Island, NY), Peter Zeitler (Amherst, NY) and Tony Lizauckas (Kenmore, NY) that placed sixth in 1:38.92.

In Friday's opening session, the Bulls picked up a pair of fifth place finishes from McLachlan in the 500 freestyle in 4:40.46 and Dexter Tatum (Gainesville, GA) in the 200 individual medley in 1:57.91.

Competition concludes Sunday with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
