UB Men Stand 14th at Miami Invite
OXFORD, OH - After the first night of competition at the Miami University Invitational, the University at Buffalo's men's swim team stands 14th in the 17-team field with 80 points. Racing continues Saturday and Sunday.
UB's diving tandem of Jim Taravella (Hamburg, NY/Orchard Park) and Jon Malarsky (Jamaica Estates, NY/Archbishop Molloy) turned in strong performances on the one-meter board. Taravella, a sophomore, finished 11th with 199.75 points while Malarsky, a freshman, took 15th with 180.70 points.
The 200 free relay foursome of Kevin Kotowski (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum), Aviv
Oren (Rison Le-Zion, Israel), Tony Lizauckas (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West)
and Mike Szyprowski (Grand Island, NY/Grand
Island) finished 19th in 1:26.71. UB's 400 medley relay squad of Lizauckas,
Oren, Emir Askan (Izmir, Turkey/Izmir Ozel Turk
Lisesi) and Kotowski placed 20th in 3:31.51.
