WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team remained seventh among seven teams after Saturday's second day of the Purdue Men's Invitational held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette. The Bulls have 151 points heading into Sunday's final day of competition. Three Big Ten schools, Purdue (521), Northwestern (456.5) and Iowa (411.5) lead the field, followed by 2003 Missouri Valley Conference runner-up Southern Illinois (385), Mountain West Conference member Wyoming (250) and another Big Ten team, Ohio State (194).

Three Bulls had impressive days on Saturday. Junior Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) reached the championship final of the 400 individual medley. Sy placed sixth in the final in 4:06.40 after turning in a lifetime-best 4:03.44 clocking in the preliminary round.

Junior Aviv Oren (Rishon Le-Zion, Israel/Makif A') won the consolation final of the 100 breaststroke to place ninth overall. Oren finished in 57.09, nearly half a second ahead of the next finisher, Ohio State's Rob Kauscher. Oren is the Mid-American Conference champion and UB recordholder in the event. Junior Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) won the bonus final in a lifetime-best 58.05.
