Men's Swimming and Diving Honored By CSCAABUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team, under the direction of head coach Budd Termin, has been selected as one of 49 Division I men's programs for national recognition as an Academic All-American Team for the 2004 spring semester, according to the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Bulls attained a team grade point average of 2.95 during the spring semester, tying for 27th on the list with the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The University of Denver achieved the highest team GPA for the semester at 3.48, followed by Georgetown (3.34) and Brown (3.30). A record 283 teams across all divisions were recognized by the CSCAA for posting team grade point averages of 2.80 or better for the spring semester. Since the Bulls joined the Division I swimming ranks in 1991, UB has missed making the CSCAA's list of top academic teams in just two semesters. UB's men's swimming program netted a pair of Academic All-Mid-American Conference
members in March as butterfly and individual medley specialist
Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary
Ward) and breaststroker Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony
Wayne) were selected for their successes in both the water and the classroom. |
