Men's Swimming Earns All-Academic Recognition From CSCAABUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team, under the direction of head coach Budd Termin, has been honored as one of the nation's top academic teams once again, according to the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The CSCAA recognized 272 men's and women's programs from 171 different institutions at the Division I, II and III levels as All-Academic Teams following the spring 2005 semester. The Bulls' 3.07 semester grade point average ranked 21st in the nation among the 48 Division I institutions honored. Buffalo ranked 12th in the country out of 42 Division I schools with a 3.13 team GPA in the fall 2004 semester.
The Bulls had four Academic All-MAC selections during the 2004-05 season. The four selections - Luke Adams (Quinessec, MI/Kingsford), Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) and Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) - were second only to Ball State's five honorees on the 17-member team. In addition, Sy was named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on February 8, 2005. Since the Bulls joined the Division I swimming ranks in 1991, UB has missed making
the CSCAA's list of top academic teams in just two semesters. |
