BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team has been selected among 53 Division I programs for national recognition as an Academic All-American Team according to the College Swim Coaches Association of America. The Bulls attained a Fall 2003 semester grade point average of 2.910, tying for 39th place on the list with the University of Missouri.

"The tradition continues of our student-athletes doing a tremendous job of balancing their academic and athletic careers," said UB head coach Budd Termin. Since the Bulls joined the Division I swim ranks in 1991, UB has missed making the list in just two semesters.

The rankings are for the fall semester since spring classes are still in session throughout the country. The CSCAA will recognize the spring semester honorees this summer.

The University of Denver achieved the highest GPA of the semester at 3.578. Duke University, Georgetown University and Dartmouth University, all renowned for overall academic achievement, filled the next three spots.

UB's men's swimming program netted a pair of Academic All-Mid-American Conference members in March as butterfly and individual medley specialist Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward) and breaststroker Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) were selected for their successes in both the water and the classroom.
