UB Men's Swim Team Earns Academic All-American HonorsBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team was one of 52 Division I men's programs to be recognized by the College Swim Coaches Association of America as an Academic All-American team for the Fall 2004 semester. The results were released this week by the association based in Colorado Springs, CO and posted on collegeswimming.com. UB's 3.13 overall team grade point average ranked 12th in the country, tied with Xavier University of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Ivy League members Yale (3.40) and Dartmouth (3.34) topped the list. UB was one of four Mid-American Conference schools in the top 20 joining Eastern Michigan (3.20), Ohio University (3.07) and Ball State (3.06). Earlier this month, four Bulls were named to the MAC's All-Academic squad. The four selections, Luke Adams (Quinessec, MI/Kingsford), Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) and Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne), were second only to Ball State's five honorees on the 17-member team. Head coach Budd Termin was pleased that his team was honored by the CSCAA and that his squad is in such elite company. "The legacy of great swimming combined with great academics continues," said Termin. "Hard work makes dreams come true." The Bulls finished the 2004-05 season with a 3-4 dual-meet record (1-3 MAC). They
finished fifth at the MAC Championships and 12th at the ECAC Championships in February. |
