In Friday’s three-meter event, Lynch, the ECAC champion on both the three and one-meter boards last month, scored a total of 575.15 points for 12 total dives to place 11th in the 18-diver finals. In the opening round, Lynch tallied 274.95 points for six dives to stand 12th among 28 divers. The top 18 scorers from the opening round moved into the finals and attempted six additional dives. Lynch scored 300.20 points, which added to the preliminary score equaled his final mark.

Pittsburgh’s Jeremy Stultz won the competition with a total score of 676.60 points. Stultz was seventh after the opening round (308.40), but tallied the highest finals total (368.15) to easily outdistance Princeton’s Kent DeMond by nearly 40 points.

Lynch went on to a sixth-place finish in the one-meter competition on Saturday. He turned in a 12-dive total of 567.85 points and placed sixth in both the preliminary round (274.30) and final round (293.55). Penn State’s Adam Pierce won the competition with a total score of 691.60.

Four divers were named to the NCAA Championships field from the meet, with the champions of each competition as well as a wild card earning the spots. Stultz (three-meter), Pierce (one-meter), DeMond (platform) and Navy’s Kevin Teague (wild card) will compete at the national meet in Atlanta.

Five regional championships were held over the weekend to determine the national field. Besides the A Zone competition in Annapolis, meets were held in Lexington, KY, Columbus, OH, Columbia, MO and Oklahoma City, OK.
