Lynch Places Sixth on One-Meter Board

UB diver completes second day of competition at NCAA Zone A Qualifier

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The University at Buffalo's Cassidy Lynch (Westminster, CO/Legacy) finished sixth in the finals of the one-meter competition as the second day of the NCAA Zone A Diving Qualifier concluded Saturday at the U.S. Naval Academy's Lejeune Hall.

Lynch turned in a 12-dive total of 567.85 points. He placed sixth in both the preliminary round (274.30) and final round (293.55). Six dives were executed in the prelims with the top 18 scorers moving into the final round where they completed six additional dives. Penn State's Adam Pierce won the competition with a total score of 691.60, 30 points better than Pittsburgh's Jeremy Stultz, who won Friday's three-meter event.

The ECAC champion in both the one- and three-meter springboard events last month, Lynch placed 11th in Friday's three-meter competition.

Four divers will represent Zone A at the NCAA Championships later this month. Four other regional championships are also being held this weekend to determine the field for the national meet.
